Often travelers are keen on finding the best way to get to Cusco from Lima. Cusco is well linked to Lima and other major southern cities by Road and Air.
By Air:
Cusco has frequent flights from Lima. Duration of flight is usually an hour (depending on the type of aircraft operated) and is operated by LaTam Peru, Avianca, LC Peru, Peruvian Airlines and Star Peru.
The price may go up if not booked in advance.
Average Cost: USD 83
By Bus:
Every cities are well linked by road and it is convenient to travel. Road transport in Peru is not as dangerous as you would think. According to the Peruvian law it is mandatory to have 2 drivers swapping every 4 hours if the journey involves more than 6 hours. The maximum speed limit is 90 km/h and when the bus goes over the speed limit an alarm notifies the driver to slow down which could be heard in the cabin too.
The journey takes quite longer but buses are exremely comfortable. Most busses operate “CAMA” class where you would have a 180 degrees reclining bed and the meal is served on board.
You would pass by the mysterious Nazca Lines while it is still daylight and will also be able to get a glimpse of the impressive sand dunes on the Peruvian coast.
Recommended Companies: Cruz Del Sur (although this is the most expensive among the rest, the serve is exceptionally good), TEPSA, Peru Hop (most recommended option for backpackers)
Duration Of the Journey: 20-21 hours
Cost: USD 50-87
